Perhaps an easy knock at the church – it is, like the rest of us, in the market for the long term. Pensions and investments can't be judged on their value today, whether at the top of the market or the bottom of it. So while the church may be forced to look at the ethics of its chosen investments and to make changes – it shouldn't be lambasted for doing wise things with the money it has to hold in trust.
