Holtby starts training ride of week

Another Monday and only one more to go before the big ride starts on
July 7th.
Just a short route this morning. More stories to record at lunchtime.
This is Holtby to the east of York. It’s very quiet this morning. Even my
bike seems to intrude into the peace.

There will be an update about the Palestinian students later.

It’s possible I’ll have earned a short break from cycling by the time
this one comes around. Sponsor me for the 7/8th July. See www.help.co.uk/ridingbike

No cycling today

It’s been a busy work day today so no cycle training. So here’s a
picture taken a couple of days ago on the road (actually just off the road) near Castle Howard.

The new thing is that I am sending this picture AND message from my phone. My brother reminded me that I could do this through Flickr.

So now I’ll be updating both pictures and text from the road during training and on the sponsored ride in July.

Between Strensall and Sutton on the Forest

Poppy fieldsSwallows dip across my path, a stoat jumps out from the verge and leaps back again when it sees my bike. I’m training again for the sponsored ride next month and sending pictures to the blog from the roadside.

This is familiar country for me. The roads north of York are mainly quiet, flat and pass through pleasant villages. Today I’m cycling to Easingwold. It’s only ten miles on the main road but this route winds along 18 miles of country roads. This shot came after leaving Strensall about 9 miles into the ride.

Sounds like a good deal, right? All you have to do is get Firefox 3 during Download Day to help set the record for most software downloads in 24 hours – it’s that easy. We’re not asking you to swallow a sword or to balance 30 spoons on your face, although that would be kind of awesome.

OK so I’m a confirmed Safari user but Firefox is my backup and it’s one in the eye for MS Explorer which I despise. The idea of pledging to do nothing except download the new version of Firefox is novel – but over 68,000 people in the UK have pledged. That’s more than 0.1% of the population. Kind of awesome ……
