Hornblower at loggerheads with council over fresh ban – Bureaucracy gone mad – this small city, where I used to go to school and lived for a number of years, has a unique tradition in the office of Hornblower. The way the local council, which is nothing more than a parish council these days, seems to be acting against the interests of Ripon to preserve a tradition that isn't in the slightest under threat.

Oremus Hymnal: Breathe on me, Breath of God – It's a long time since I'd sung this hymn but we sang it in church tonight. Amazing inspiration

Missing chef refused taxi money – The mystery of the disappearance of Claudia Lawrence as she walked to work in York. She's not been seen or heard for a week now – someone knows where she is.
Gospels returning on temporary basis (From The Northern Echo) – I think there would be something special about seeing the Lindisfarne Gospels at Durham Cathedral or even better – at the ruins of the Priory on Lindisfarne. I'd certainly make the trip.

Specialist 'learning disability' health teams should be introduced. It's not enough to say it's impractical or expensive – it's not as if we don't know the people with learning disabilities exist.
